Johann Eichmeier - despot of the Hirschgarten

It seems that I'm not the only one who has been threatened by the boss of the Hirschgarten. This is a report of a woman who went there with her children:

"For 14 years I've been going to the Hirschgarten - now never again.

Today I was outside with my family on the terrace of the restaurant. The children ordered chips, I got a cup of coffee (1.80 Euro). I emphatically twice ordered a CUP. He brings the order - a big mug! I say "Wow, that's a cup?" The waiter says "Yes". The mug must be like a  bucket, I think. Whatever.

The chips must have been at least twice in fat (very brown), but still pretty cold. The children were hungry and did not complain. When the bill but for a mug of coffee came (3.50 Euro) I went inside and I complained (politely). And by chance to the boss Johann Eichmeier. The waiter admitted that it was his mistake. Johann Eichmeier saw things differently, and barred me from the premises. I should be "ashamed" for my behaviour! To my question "Why? it was your waiter's mistake" I got no answer. I, stupidly, then paid the money for the mug, plus tip, I was afraid that such a despot would report me for theft. Doesn't look so good in front of the children, even though I was in the right.

When I told the children that I had been banned and can probably never come back here, they broke out in tears. I could not explain how something like that could happen. So learn children to obey people with property. Bitter!

Here at at dooyoo you can see that the more recent the report, the worse the score. So it is."

Great customer service.

This is a photo of the man, so you know who to stay away from:

If you still want to go to the Hirschgarten, don't say that you haven't been warned.

Escorted off the premises

For the first time in my life I was escorted off the premises.

We were in this really nice beer garden in a park a bit west of the city centre. I was taking lots of photos because it was so nice. Then someone behind one of the food counters started shouting at me "Loeschen, loeschen" OK, I thought, he wants me to erase the photo of him. So I did. Then he told me to erase all my photos of the beer garden I erased a couple and went back and sat down.

Then the boss came and told me I had to show him all the photos I'd taken and erase them, even the ones that were just of my beer. He threatened to call the police if I didn't. Even the one of the entrance, taken from the street. He claimed that it was all private property and I couldn't take any photos. He followed me out onto the street shouting insults at me.

Un-fucking-believable. It's like the Vondel park, with a beer garden just in one corner. It's the most unpleasant experience I've ever had in a pub. And the only time I've ever been thrown out.

I've taken photos in thousands of pubs. I've never had that reaction before. So aggressive and threatening. He said it was Hausbruch and I was breaking the law - is that true? What a total twat. I had been going to give the place a really good write up.

The joke is that I'd taken loads of video that he didn't notice.

Afterwards we went to the LoewenbraeuKeller and I asked the waiter if I was allowed to take photos. He looked at me like I was an idiot for asking: "Selbstverstaendlich" he said.

This is the place:

Tell me if you can see anywhere it says where you aren't allowed to take photos.

It really spoiled what had been a great experience.

Film

Lexie's making a new film: Nazi Zumbies. I think it's some sort of costume drama.

"Dad, do you want to do something grooveroovertastic?"

"No."

"I'll pay you a euro."

"OK then."

Lexie's film needs props. He roped me in to paint the handle of the golden gun. Black. Fortunately, the same colour as most of my clothes. And all of the ones I'm wearing today. Except for the socks. I'm a bit Dirk in that department.

Lexie's now spraying metallic paint onto a mint tin. Some sort of magazine. Should be an interesting film.

"Do you have any empty vodka bottles, dad?"

"There's a hip-sized bottle of rum we got for our New Year's cocktails." (Word of advice. Never let children mix your cocktails.)

"Dad? Can I have one of your empty beer bottles?"

"Why?"

"As a prop. So it looks like I'm drinking beer. I'll fill it with cola."

"We need a special device for that." I opened the funnel cupboard. "Do you know what it's called?""

"A funnel, dad. I'm not stupid."

Pouring cola into a St. Bernardus bottle. For show. I've done exactly the same myself. Just the other way around. When accompanying Lexie to Judo. One and a half Abts in a half litre cola bottle. Definitely helped pass the time. And to not look a total alcy.

"Look dad, I'm drinking beer."

"Good lad."
