In case you're wondering about my earlier post today, it was part of Boak and Bailey's Long Posts project.
It's an unfinished chapter from my giant book on the history of British beer from 1700 to 1973. If you look closely, you'll see that some sections are incomplete or even totally misisng. And some of it is just notes.
I hope you enjoy it, for all its imperfections.

Absolutely superb, Ron, even as a work in progress. Keep up the good work, and put me down for a copy of the book when it's ready.
Rod,
the full book will be a monster, if it ever gets finished. This is one of about 10 chapters. And it's still a fair way from completion as it's supposed to have a series of recipes, too. I reckon the full book would be about half a million words. I've currently got 215,000.
