I wonder what the beers from Phipps aand Tamplin were like? Had Watney phased out cask before they closed? Did they still brew some of their old brands or was it all Watney stuff?

I vaguely remember Tamplins, for some reason, but I'm not sure why as it's not in my area. See the comments at this link - returned beer bottle sniffer as a job, anyone? https://www.mybrightonandhove.org.uk/places/placepub/free-butt/free-butt-2
How are the beers from Taedonggang? Anybody tried them?
Cask beer from Phipps and Tamplin’s was indeed phased out before the breweries closed. At Phipps (whose brewery closed in 1974 rather than 1972), brewing of cask beer ended in May 1968, but keg versions of Phipps PA and SPA continued for a couple of years, along with bottled India Pale Ale and Jumbo Stout. The very last beer badged as Phipps was Jumbo Stout, which was discontinued in October 1972 (I managed to drink one of the last bottles – and still have the label).
Tamplin’s Sussex Bitter was discontinued in 1970; I suspect that was the end both of the Tamplin’s name and of cask beer brewed in Brighton.
There are some reviews out there. Most people describe it as a decent quality adjunct heavy lager. Idk who buys it, as I can't imagine there is a large domestic market. I thought i read the brewers were educated by German brewers initially. Id certainly love to try it, but am not really sure how I would.
Thanks, Grayson!
