"AMERICAN SOLDIERS IN FRACAS
SHOTS were fired and one man was killed by knife wounds during a clash between American soldiers and the American military police in the streets of Antrim, Northern Ireland.
The following statement was issued yesterday from Headquarters, Northern Ireland Base Section, U.S. Army:—
"There was a disturbance in the streets of Antrim on Wednesday night shortly after nine o'clock, involving U.S. military police and U.S. soldiers. Several shots were fired before the disorder ended.
"One soldier was killed, the victim of knife wounds, and another soldier was seriously wounded. No civilians were involved."
It is learned that the U.S. soldier killed was negro, while the wounded soldier is a white man.

Having looked at the details of the American soldiers executed in the UK during WW II, I know that no-one was hung for the death of the black soldier.

My grandfather worked as a taxi driver for the 654th Tank Destroyer Battalion stationed in Co. Tyrone. I bet he'd have had some stories.
Alas, the poor Tank Destroyers... A concept ill-concieved.
As to the other matter. Unfortunately, I would imagine that there were far more unaccounted for murderers of African-American soldiers in the U.S. at that time as well.
