California

I leave for San Francisco on Friday. A couple of things.

First point. Looks like I'll have a free day next Monday (8th June) if anyone fancies a beer or two.

Second point. Anything I shouldn't miss in the city?

Final point. I'll be there tarting: please buy my book:

Have brunch at some dim sum joint. It's San Francisco!

I know this is a little out of the usual for some beer people, but Napa valley to the north of San Francisco is one of the great wine regions of the world, as you probably know. A tour and tasting of a winery or two is a ton of fun. Plus it's a lot better weather than San Francisco, with the famous saying falsely attributed to Mark Twain that the coldest winter he ever spent was a summer in San Francisco.

There are a million beer bars but in all seriousness, grab public transport (or beg a friend) to take you over to Oakland to go here: http://heinolds.com/index.html Last time I disappeared into that place and only drank massively fresh Anchor Steam for hours on end. One of the coolest places I've ever been.
