Extra March US book tour date

Another change to my book-tarting tour schedule. There's been another event added in New York City on 9th March.

It's at Jimmy's No. 43 in the East Village. Funnily enough close to where I did some of my drinking when I lived in New York. If only I could remember the name of that basement bar on St. Mark's Place.

There's also probably going to be an event at a Boston liquor store in the afternoon of Saturday 8th March

This is the revised schedule:

Saturday 8th March Boston Pretty Things event
The Independent
75 Union Square,
Somerville

Sunday 9th March

Monday 10th March NYC Event

The special Pretty Things beer and hopefully some others from the book should be avilabale.

Tuesday 11th March Philadelphia Event
Wednesday 12th March Philadelphia Event

Philadelphia,
PA 19123
http://www.yardsbrewing.com/‎
Yards should be brewing one of the recipes from the book.

Ron, good to see that Jimmy's No. 43 is included. it is known for some rare nano and other beers. Look for Barrier made out in Long Island for example (not nano or garage but an upcoming excellent-quality craft brewery, they make a cream ale that to my taste is the true pre-Pro flavour and it opened my eyes, the one time I liked corn in a beer).

7th is the great beer street with McSorley's near 1st and down the other way an excellent German restaurant (at Avenue C) where I just had Andech's Doppenbock that had the true barley sugar taste. You must stop at least in McSorley to observe the brass and wood hand pump unit by the bar, unused since before WW I they told me.

There are other beer hangouts on the same street but these are the most notable IMO.

If you mention where you are staying in New York, I can mention the closest and best beer bar, they don't have to be of the long bar type either. E.g. the Guilty Goose on 23rd Street between 6th and 7th Avenue has a well-chosen list of 6 drafts and many more excellent bottled and canned beers.

Not sure which bar would be a basement bar on St. Marks years ago. Where Standings is now, over Jimmy's No. 43, used to be Brewsky's for many years which was probably the best beer in NYC in the early 80's when I started getting interested. There are so many good beer bars in both NYC and Brooklyn (I plan to attend your Brouwerij Lane event) that it really depends on what neighborhood you are thinking of hanging out in.

Hopefully at Jimmy's he'll have you on his Beer Sessions Radio program so those of us on his podcast can get to hear you ramble on a bit.

I'm hugely disappointed that I can't make it to your event at Yards. I was a brewer there up until 6 months ago, but unfortunately I live halfway across Pennsylvania now and probably can't make the drive. Just out of curiosity though, what time of day will you be speaking there?

Do you have a breakdown of times for the Yards event? When is the public welcome?
Thanks,
