What was Britain's first Lager?

I'm back on the Lager again. With details of the first Lager ever brewed in the UK. Which was surprisingly early.

I’m not familiar with the famous walking stick, and wort theft story? Have you written about it previously? Any chance you have a link?

When visiting Bass, Sedlmayr used a specially adapted cane to take surreptitious samples of fermenting Pale Ale.

Do you know if they had long cold storage for the lager, or were the early versions just about the brewing and fermentation?
