Not that the 1975 version looks very different to the 1970 one. How do I know what the grist would have been? Simple. It was another beer in the Mild/Celebration Ale parti-gyle. All the elements are the same, if not in exactly the same proportions.
As the last remaining Lundon Burton Ale, this is an incredibly important beer. Representing a long tradition of draught Strong Ales, reaching back to the KKs and KKKs from the 19th century.
The sugars remain a combination of Flosweet DAS and CDM. For which I’ve substituted No. 3 invert and caramel.
At just 3.5 lbs per quarter (336 lbs) of malt, the hopping rate is very low. Which is obvious from the mere 15 IBU (calculated). I’ve no idea as to the varieties, as only the name of the grower is listed in the record.
