Dapper Ales

I'm happy to announce a cooperative venture with Peter Haydon: Dapper Ales. The plan is to brew six historic recipes this year. With, if I remember this right, a London theme. Yes, I'm sure that's what we agreed. No way to go back on it now it's been officially announced.

Brewers have brewed a long series of beers I long to try. Getting Peter to take on Doctor Brown, a 4.1% Brown Ale from Barclay Perkins, was one of my best acts of persuasion. An example of how idiosyncratic early Brown Ales could be. And I beer from the brewery - I was going to say I love most, but that's not the right word - obsess over most

Doctor Brown will feature in the Fuller's London Brewers Alliance programme and be on sale exclusively in selected of Fuller's pubs.

You guessed it. More revenue streams are needed. That's why . . . I'm financially interested in announcing:

I'll be in London on Saturday 28th March to try Dr. Brown. And sign copies of my book, The Home Brewer's Guide to Vintage Beer, which I'd really appreciate you buying directly from me. Kids' shoes and all that.

Keep me supplied with beer and I'll happily talk beer, beer history, beer styles and German punk rock until  . . . . you stop supplying me with beer.

The location is the The Mad Bishop & Bear Paddington station, 15:00 to 18:00.

* Of course I'm financially interested in this project. "You're an idiot doing all these things for free, Ronald." That and several thumps in sensitive places have encouraged me to take a more commercial approach.

Hum. That's where the Cardiff trains land! I really like the pub too.

Hah, I just realised it clashes with the Wurzels gig I'm going to. Can you believe it.
