Cask might have to virtually die out and be reintroduced, in order to get a better price. In the US in the 70s, there were only a few specialty beers left. The east coast had (for example) McSorley's Ale at a price similar to that of Budweiser. Craft brewing started on the west coast that had a poor domestic beer selection and there was no reasonable price comparison between craft and competing domestic specialties. But cask, at least near me in ex-urban NY, has virtually died out.
