The first part of my interview with Mitch Steele, former brewer at Anheuser Busch. This covers his time studying at UC Davis, working at a winery, his first brewing job at the San Andreas brewpub and his move to Anheuser Busch.
I was interested in Steele's work on the AB specialty beers. I didn't look to hard for those products, but I don't think there was effective promotion of these beers (or possibly even availability) in the beer stores I visited. I did pick up some Miller products, including Miller Reserve Stout. I liked it, but it disappeared soon. Another time, I also saw a Miller rep promoting their Henry Weinhard brands, but the one I picked up was disappointing.
Great interview. The section about his first part time job at one of the early California brew pubs is really entertaining.
ReplyDeleteVery nice, Ron. Ken Grossman next?
