London XX Ale hops 1880 - 1899

English hops are the most commonly used. Again, the majority coming from Kent, though with Worcester well represented and in one case from Sussex. Many, unfortunately, I know little about, other than that they were English. There’s a good chance many of them came from Kent, that being the most convenient source for London brewers.

There are fewer foreign hops in this set, being limited to six American and two Bavarian. It is notable that Truman 40/- contained 100% American hops. They may have been extensively used, but it was rare to see a beer that had nothing but American hops.
