Just set up the screensaver on my new PC. The one on my old PC flicked through a directory of DDR label images.
I didn't want to have just the same old images. So I added a load of DDR labels I scanned a while back. It's so cool. Just a shame that it always starts at names beginning with "A". Which isn't a total disaster as the Adler-Bräu labels are amongst my favourites.
As are some of these other beauties:
Just ordered your DDR book, Ron, looking forward to reading it.
ReplyDeleteAh, the Soviet era (and associated satellite states) had great screen-print graphics.
ReplyDeleteThe millions of dead put off any nostalgia, but they had a great look.
That Adlerbock would put you down pretty hard. Or does 16% refer to something else?
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of "Einfachbier" as a style. Easy beer!
That Colditzer label reminded me of a WWII British POW story about the „Colditz Cock“ I just read a couple of months ago. One of the most brilliant real-life stories I have ever encountered. Check out the corresponding Wikipedia entry: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colditz_Cock . Cheers, Sebastian
ReplyDeletePhil,
ReplyDeletethat's the OG in Plato, not the ABV. It would have been about 6.5% ABV.
