I just got my copy in January. I am enjoying it very much. Last week, I brewed the 1911 Heineken Beiersch. I plan to lager it and serve it at the summer festivals our Club attends (hint, hint). I can't wait to try it!
ReplyDeleteI received a copy of your War and Peace for Christmas this year and I've enjoyed reading about how political forces impacted beer production and consumption in the UK. Recently, I watched a documentary series on the prohibition in the USA by film maker Ken Burns. I was wondering if you've done any writing or research on how brewing changed during prohibition. I'd love to see a recipe from one of Al Capone's production breweries in Chicago. "Wet, Dry and Apple Pie", it could be another great Christmas present.
ReplyDeleteCheers!
Forbidden Ales,
ReplyDeletefinding information about illicit breweries might be tricky, though it's a fascinating subject A brewery isn't an easy thing to hide - the smell is pretty distinctive.
It's an interesting topic, for sure, but I'm trying to concentrate on UK beer currently.
