  1. Still, use of American hops seems noteworthy especially for the 1850 brewing, as I've understood that American hops were first trialed in the U.K. in the late 1840's: this must be one of the first beers to use them. Yearlings it appears.

    The beer must have had an American smack given they were half the hop bill and the typical pungency (then and today) of American-grown hops.

    Maybe this beer tasted like Jaipur IPA, say. Interesting.

    Couldn't figure out the first hop type in the other one: Cuthbert, Cutt something, hard to read.
