I bumped into a bloggle of beer bloggers on Friday. At the Gunmakers, Jeff's pub. Our differing days left me disconcerted.
The others had been on a pub crawl since 11 am. I'd been on the go since about the same time. Except I'd been frantically photographing files down the archive. I was only on my second pint.
It got me wondering. Which of us had spent the day more usefully? I'm not convinced it was me.
You did.
ReplyDeleteA classic Ron post, but I won't be mislead by the irony.
Gary
My day included quite a lot of C-hops, and several crowds. Does that help?
ReplyDeleteBeer Nut, as you know, I hate everything beginning with the letter "c".
ReplyDeleteIf I am brutally honest, in all my score'n'eight years, perhaps the most pleasurable day of them all was a twelve hour pub crawl with my oldest of mates. Sorry, wife. Sorry, son. You both get an honourable mention but no prize.
ReplyDeleteJust me and him, taking a very leisurely stroll about town with nothing else to do but stop off in a bunch of pubs and enjoy each others company.
We were drinking all day but never got drunk. Somehow we were able to stretch out that 3-4 pint magic spot to last all day.
I think how people use their time is a very personal thing. I hope you find it rewarding, I envy you having the patience to collate the information that you do. I couldn't do it. If you don't trawl the archives then who will?
ReplyDeleteKeep it up Ron.
Woolpack Dave, funny thing is, I'm very impatient.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Woolpack Dave, we really appreciate the work you do.
ReplyDeletebut you'll be very welcome to join us for a crawl the next time, we had a very nice day criss-crossing London.
