I've decided to regularise posting historic recipes. From now on, Wednesday will be "Let's Brew" day here at Barclay Perkins.
March will, of course, be given over to Mild recipes. March is Mild Month, after all. Next month? Probably Stock Ales. They're pretty neglected. It should be very educational.

ReplyDeleteAnd yes, March IS mild month. Although not mild, I can tell you! I have just finished brewing your Whitbread 1923 PA in a bloody snow storm. I must get that brewing shed built.
I'm looking forward to it. I'm gonna make the hell out of some historic recipes.

ReplyDeleteBy the way, I just bottled my batch of Whitbread IPA 1923, and really, it's VERY promising. Good hoppiness, a delicate but present malt base, not fuss at all with the sugars, seems to be a great recipe by now. Very blond by the way, I don't know if Whitbread got a lot of color from their boil, or if was really so pale.
I'm eager to see the Stock ale recipes, and the Milds too...:)

ReplyDeleteWhy is March mild month? CAMRA says it's May, you say March and my mate says it's too boring to have a month dedicated to it.

Ftamna, I'm not going to let the fat cats at CAMRA tell me which is Mild month. I'm quitte happy to have two Mild months - March and May.
