I'm so pleased with myself for finding this mystery pub on Streetview:
that I'm going to show you what it looks like now:
You can see that it's move upmarket from a Hostinec to a Restaurace. Personally, I much prefer the old signage. And the attractive grey colour of the upper storey.
Hmmm, not Tepla, CZ? The monastery was going to revive a dark beer there by the way. Oh well.
ReplyDeleteThen perhaps you are just disappointed that the charming old pubs with a local brew advertised are being taken over by the muscular Urquell operation and somewhat standarised in the process.
Speaking of Czech beer, or sorry, Slovak, I just had a Golden Pheasant in Ontario that was just two months from packaging date. Tip-top beer with an Urquell-like taste but not quite as rich and ample.

Where is this? I have been searching on streetview for a Prague pub I stumbled into back around 1993. It was as old-school, unchanged East Bloc as you could get, and the Urquell flowed very freely, with the Wirt bringing us fresh half-liters before we'd made it though half of our previous ones. Drank about 7 beers each in the span of 3 hours. When we got the bill: US$6 or so.
